A key force on the dark side of comic art, Mike Mignola's strong blacks and compositions have all the power of classic Russian poster design, while still maximising the angles, pace and imagination associated with comics. This unmatchable style has seen him soar from 'Batman artist' to one of the biggest creator owned success stories, with Hellboy.

His illustrative style translating into box-office gold, he has also worked on Bram Stoker's Dracula, designed the Batman: the Animated Series Mr. Freeze, done production design on Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and ensured the two blockbuster movies of his Hellboy character matched his vision. Recently he has been here in New Zealand working with Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro, on the upcoming Hobbit movies.

IF I WAS E.I.C HE WOULD WORK ON: ARKHAM ASYLUM Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, Joker, Two Face, Penguin - DC's Dark Knight has the best rogue's gallery in comics. Seeing Mike illustrate stories of these inmates, backed by the gothic architecture of Gotham City, would be a series worth it's weight in gold.

GET HIS BEST: BATMAN: GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT is an awesome read starring everyone's favourite psycho millionaire, but you really can't go past HELLBOY for art that will really give you something to drool over.

RIGHT NOW HE IS: Announcing a full-time return to comics. While it's more on the writing side of his creator-owned properties, don't be suprised to see the odd special or cover done by Mignola soon from Dark Horse Comics.
