'IT'S MIND BLOWING' Green Lantern movie to have over 1,300 special FX

Turning Daniel Craig into an iconic 007 is one thing, but swap globe hopping for planet swapping and suddenly it's a whole new (and more expensive) ball game. Stepping up to the plate; Casino Royale Director Martin Campbell, who revealed to Empire Magazine, by perfectly capturing the off world aspects of GREEN LANTERN, he hopes to give audiences something they have never seen before:

"He's the only superhero to my knowledge who regularly goes to another planet. Superman and Batman were essentially locked into a particular city. The Lantern isn't so Earthbound."

For fans worried about how much money is left in the 'Central Battery' to portray the Green Lantern Corps and outer-space, after the title role signing of Ryan Renolds, and production moving from Australia to New Orleans, Campbell has a few words to help them 'overcome great fear'.

"It's daunting. Just the process, something like 1,300 visual effect shots, it's mind-blowing, quite honestly." Stating most of the FX work is due to Green Lantern's 'power-ring' he continued "It's energised by a battery on the planet of Oa, which taps into the willpower of everyone in the universe. From that ring you can form constructs. So if you got into a fight, you could form a giant fist. Or a fighter plane."

Dam - did he just say 'fighter plane'?! That sound you hear is a world of DC fan's squealing in joy simultaneously. Watch out Marvel - filming on Green Lantern starts this coming April, for release in June, 2011.
