It takes more thought bubbles then your average Brian Michael Bendis comic, to decide which writer can take a B&W word Balloon and turn it into something pretty colourful. Luckily these people made it easy.
CLOSE CONTENDERS: Sterling Gates took over
Supergirl turning it from a book approaching cancellation levels faster than a speeding bullet, to one of the best titles in the Superman line. Hinted at in the
'Best Comeback' award,
Jonathan Hickman breathed new life into the
Fantastic Four, with cosmic concepts and bang-on characterisation.
NADS '09 BEST WORD BALLOON OR THOUGHT BUBBLE MAKER:
JIMMY PALMIOTTI

While other writers were off concocting Blackest Night's and never-ending Dark Reigns,
Jimmy Palmiotti made a massive impact in 09 by making comics that are just flat out fun to read. Jimmy's Supergirl strip within the pages of
Wednesday Comics the best example, it was a light-hearted oasis that saw the 'Maid of Might' hilariously try to control her wayward super cat and dog.
I really loved his Supergirl strip in WC!
ReplyDeleteIt was great wasn't it Rob and from the outset is probably the one I was looking forward to least!
