WATCHMEN: Predicting August's Best Comics

HIT PICK TO CLICK: SUPERMAN: THE LAST FAMILY OF KRYPTON #1 (DC): Watch that this one doesn't slip behind you. Not only is it awesome DC is bringing back the 'Elseworlds' specials, but this alternate tale of what would have happened had Kal-El's whole family hopped on the exploding planet express, is written by iconic Superman and Action Comics scribe Cary Bates!

CLOSE CONTENDERS:
DAREDEVIL: BLACK & WHITE #1 (Marvel): With creators like writer Ann Nocenti and artist David Aja, characters like Bullseye and the Kingpin, it's hard to pass up this puppy on the best of days. Add in that this one-shot is done in the B&W, retro-style of the old Marvel Magazines and forget it - it sells itself! Just look at that cover!

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS #0 (IDW): For some D&D brings flashbacks of Saturday morning cartoons, for others playing board games in a dusty basement. Now IDW bring all the goodness of the brand back to one medium in desperate need of a bit more sword and sorcery - comics!

MAGNUS, ROBOT FIGHTER #1 (Dark Horse): The brighter the picture, the darker the negative and in the sparkling futuristic city of North Am, the shadows hide a range of violent robot gangs and crime. Luckily Magnus, (written by the legendary Jim Shooter) ain't afraid of the dark or ripping apart the odd thousand metallic adversaries to ensure peace endures.

WILDCATS VERSION 3.0: YEAR ONE TP (Wildstorm): Writer Joe Casey and artist Dustin Nguyen's run on WildCAT's was one for the books! If you missed out first time round, grab this trade collection to see how the Cat's fare swapping the usual superhero gig for something a little more clandestine.
