Splash pages - you gotta love 'em. A place where the penciller can hit the reader full-throttle, with a large dose of illustrated 'wow'. This week; Neal Adams and Deadman.

While Neal Adams is currently making a big-splash with Batman: Odyssey, I hope DC chuck him back on this guy one more time, after Brightest Day stops with all the Deadman hogging.

This splash page showcases the kind of experimentation Adams got up to in the original Deadman run, one that's all too rare in recent times.

Look at each individual panel, and see how it is it's own unique image – then when viewed as a whole page each forms part of a colossal Deadman mugshot. It doesnt add to or play a part in the story – it’s just freakin’ sweet.

Try doing this kind of storytelling on film!
