PUTTING 'THE FORCE' INTO CHRISTMAS CARDS: Sci-Fi Meets Santa

Sometimes searching for the right card can take as long as searching for the right gift. Especially at Christmas.

Every store offers cards with bells and holly all over it or carollers singing their butts off in the freezing snow, but where are those cards that will allow you to deck the halls with some 'bam' 'boom' 'pow'?

Foldees.com seems to be the answer, and like the juggernaut that is Threadless t-shirts, what's cool is you can design and submit your own card idea throughout the year, have it voted on by the sites growing fanbase. If it strikes it big, it then sells on foldees.com while you sit back and soak up the royalties. Sweet huh?

While Christmas cards aren't all they sell, package and post, it's nice to see fresh art styles on festive cards, and the fact a fair chunk sport likenesses to Iron Man, Superman, and the X-Men etc ain't bad either. Heck Star Wars even has it's own section!

My favourite so far is unsurprisingly the one I've decorated this post with. Designed by uden, I know as a kid I never saw that revelation coming... I'm talking about in the movies kids... yeah in the movies...

  1. Haha! Nothing like the personal touch. I can see my father sighing and shaking his head now. I always like the make your own joke gifts. And us nerds are always looking for something more nerdalicious to give at the holidays. Besides, we always have more in-jokes than any other subset of human beings on the planet. And we delight in the fact that no one will get them but us. Which is why we put them on t-shirts, and posters, and now Christmas cards.

  2. And don't forget Big Bang Theory Random! I think that really shoved a 'bazinga' or two on the crowds in-jokiness! These cards definitely carry on in that style too.

I usually like to make gifts too, but alas this year to little time - might be a gift grab from the servo on the way to Christmas dinner at this point lol!

  3. Oh I know what you mean! I managing though. I had one shirt made that says "If you think that's impressive, wait until you see my Bankai." for the Bleach fan that is my brother-in-law. I can't wait to see his face. And I had it made so he can wear it under his shirt at work. And I'm making a few other things that should probably be getting my attention while I'm sitting here commenting on your blog. So, Cheerio!

  4. Nice - I'm sure he will love it.

Gifts with thought are the best kind, and hand created - well that's just that next level. You should post in some of your art work! We'd all like to see it!

  7. That only happens in Disney movies. And to tell you the truth, the older I get, the creepier I find it.
