COOLI-O: Thundercats Revamp Trailer Hits

There's so much 80's in today's pop diet the young'uns may as well have gone through the whole decade with me.

Highlighter colours, MacGyver haircuts, X-Men books you could afford to follow, ripped knee jeans, Terminator and Aliens... ahh those were the days.

The latest injected hit to return - the upcoming relaunch of the Thundercats cartoon. And here is the first trailer. To let yourself in on the skinny, just click play.

  1. i'm not so sure about this. i really don't like Panthro's new look and having Snarf in this is not a good sign.

  2. I see they finally broke down and included the twins too. Early reports were that the producers were leaving them out of the reboot.

  3. yeah i think i may have said this before on your blog Craig. the original Thundercats had a lot going for it. the name "Thundercats", their logo, their look/outfits (especially Panthro and Cheetara and the over all animation of the show. the problem was when you actually try to sit down and watch an entire episode you realized the writing was pretty lame for the most part. it's hard to say if they've improved upon that from just this trailer. this is funny the word verification for this comment is nocact.

  4. Yeah I thought the trailer would have a few words or a bit of plot thrown in. Snarf is so like Orko from MOTU - so many fans like him and so many hate the dude. It's like JaJa Binks can form his own controversial sidekick legion!

  5. yeah, I guess I was too young to realize the Ewoks garnered a similar reaction from many of the older die-hard fans back in the day. Throw them in the mix too.

  6. Hey! Don't hate the Ewoks man! Without them we never would have defeated the Empire!

I don't know, If there was any 80's cartoon that I cannot watch now, it's Thundercats. It's too painful. My memory of it is so much better than what the cartoon actually was. So I'm hoping. I'm really really hoping. Thundercats! HOOOO!!!!!

  7. Yeah I vote for less hate on the Ewoks too!

While I don't remember the Thundercats all that well, I have to admit I get hesitant whenever the old Transformers series airs on telly. That rocked - but if I flick on will I feel the same when I flick it off?

  8. When I was in college, Sci Fi channel was airing Transformers with some other morning cartoons (Back to the Future, Star Trek). It wasn't as good as I remembered, except for that last season. Now that was still good and I'm betting it stood the test of time even today.

  9. Did any of you ever watch Beastwars? It was more of a computer graphics generated cartoon, but the storyline kicked major butt. Me and the friends of mine that actually went to college used to try and catch it when they didn't have class and I didn't have work.

  10. I loved Beastwars. I was out of college (showing my age) but would watch the show with Nick. He was just old enough to enjoy it. I loved the whole storyline where they found the Ark buried in the mountain. It had everything: Ravage as a Special Ops agent for the Autobot/Decepticon alliance, Optimus Prime waking up, and Starscream's Ghost making an appearance.

  11. So Thundercats is back: another case of mining our childhoods for money. If they're gonna go back to the well couldn't they at least try to improve it? OMG! I'm such a curmudgeon!

  12. I missed BeastWars - but heard lots of cool about it - maybe it's time to hunt for a few great scenes on YouTube!

BVR curmudgeon's are growing in leaps and bounds when it comes to 80's revamps I think!

I know I find myself doing that at times!!

  13. Yes Craig! Exactly what I mean! It just hooked you in, didn't it? And as far as 80's revamps go...we had He-man, right? I'm still waiting for She-ra.
