I'M NOT A NINTENDO OR ZELDA FAN, BUT...

No offense to either Nintendo or Zelda, but I'm a pretty brand loyal type of guy. Growing up I was adamantly SEGA and nothing else got a look in. Now, even though I have no idea what Zelda is about or who is who, this image for the game's 25th Anniversary just blows my mind...

If you're trying to remember each characters name, but the memory's running on half a tank, a complete list is available here. A vid on the art's production is here, and artist ag+'s online portfolio is right over here. Click 'em all!

  1. that is amazing. I was a Sega Genesis fan too, but I started out with a Nintendo. Gotta love the classics: Zelda, Mega Man, Mario & Company, Nintendo Hockey, Contra. Don't bring up the original TMNT game around Alan and Keith though. They bought it with their own money the day it came out and never forgave themselves for purchasing what turned out to be one of the worst and most difficult Nintendo games in history.

  2. You know, I don't think I ever did beat that Ninja Turtles game. In fact, I'm pretty sure I didn't because I remember distinctly becoming very cross and wanting to use curse words that I didn't know every time I died. I did, however, love Zelda. And I love that picture. Even if I never played another Zelda game after the first one until just recently, I can appreciate the artwork that went into that. It's stunning.

  3. Allot of great games seemed to only swing the Nintendo way, so the envious me of old is kinda glad to hear one of them stank :D

On Sega Mega Drive (what Genesis was called here) I was hooked on Sonic, and X-Men (being able to call on Archangel for help while playing as Nightcrawler was just to cool for words).

  4. Loved both of those games Dave. I still have them upstairs. Broke it out once for the kids to play and they loved it.
Random, to my knowledge, no one ever beat that game. I looked it up once and even Nintendo Power said that they never had anyone report in that they beat it.

  5. I completely believe that! And I loved Sonic and the X-men game too Dave. I used to sneak into my oldest brother's room (he had the Sega) to play it. On nintendo my earliest addiction was the original Dragon Warrior game. I loved killing me some metal slime!

  6. Don't know squat about video game but I like the picture. Reminds me of a Renaissance Tryptych. And that's cool in my book...

  7. Thanks for the comments all!

Craig I really need to get a PS3 so we can square off! Do you have on Random?

B.V.R it does have that feel to it doesn't it? To get my degree I had to do a side course in the Renaissance so it works well for me to.

Speaking of which have you seen what Marvel has Leo and Mike doing in the pages of SHEILD?

  8. Yeah, I have a PS3 in the house. But I'm more often on the Xbox 360. And I don't want to disillusion you guys but I stink at co-op games.
