NOW THAT'S A SPLASH PAGE: Darkseid Is

Splash pages, you gotta' love 'em. A blank canvas where the artist can hit the reader with a large dose of illustrated 'wow'. This Friday, the splash page that had me praying God would make the month pass faster like few others, featuring Darkseid by Howard Porter and inker John Dell from JLA #13.

I loved Grant Morrison's run on JLA, and if that was just 'love' then it's safe to say I LOVED the Rock of Ages storyline. More due to Aquaman, Green Lantern and Flash saving the apocalyptic future from Darkseid, than the actions of the big names taking on Joker, Luthor and Circe back in the present day.

This splash, where Darkseid fully touches down, proved the ultimate Justice League was about to meet the DCU's ultimate threat. How the ending would shake out would not only come completely out of left field, but also become one of my favourite ever single comic issues.

If you want to see said climax for yourself, along with one of my sketches of one of the heroes responsible, click the jump.
