DC DOES THE TIMEWARP - AGAIN

Last year DC ruled the school with Wednesday Comics, a blast of the newspaper comic strip past, in tabloid form. This year DC brings back a Beatles-ish reunion of the best in the biz from across three decades to tell new stories on their most enduring characters.

Dubbed Retro-Active, this wave of $4.99 46-page one-shots will fly in through July to August, and carry 26 brand-spanking new pages and 20 pages of reprints. No artists have jumped out from behind their pencils to be named part of the project yet, but the writers line-up is as follows...

Batman Len Wein ('70s), Mike W. Barr ('80s), and Alan Grant ('90s)
The Flash Cary Bates ('70s), William Messner-Loebs ('80s) and Brian Augustyn ('90s)
Green Lantern Dennis O'Neil ('70s), Len Wein ('80s), and Ron Marz ('90s)
The Justice League of America Cary Bates ('70s), Gerry Conway ('80s), and Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis ('90s)
Superman Martin Pasko ('70s), Marv Wolfman ('80s), and Louise Simonson ('90s)
Wonder Woman Dennis O'Neil ('70s), Roy Thomas ('80s), and William Messner-Loebs ('90s)

While it would have been nice to see the Legion nab a vote too, maybe they'll join Aquaman, Batgirl and the Teen Titans in Retro-Active round two!

  1. THIS will be interesting. And I, for one, can't wait to see what they do. Especially Giffen. YAY!

  2. I think so too Random! For me seeing O'Neil on Green Lantern will be interesting. For some reason though I get the feeling he'll use John Stewart over Hal... don't know why that just seams more like his style to me.

If only Mike Deodato could do Wonder Woman 90's... his work has come so far since then, it would be a great comparison.

  3. Gerry Conway writing JLA again! Wooooo-eeeeee!!!!

  4. I think Rob the JLA one will be the only one I grab sadly enough, as the pull list is pretty tight heading into Flashpoint.

And Green Lantern, that writer line-up really sings to me. If George Perez does Wonder Woman that might sneak in too - I mean who needs food anyway?
