Every week, Making A Mark features an insanely talented person, giving them a little artistic brag space right here on IADW. This week it's the 'oh my God that's so hot my eyes are burning' paintings, by Carlos Valenzuela, a man with an incredible portfolio, right from the golden shores of Chile.
That got your attention huh? A massive fan of the Bat-verse, Carlos's style covers everything from grungy 2000AD and traditional sword and sorcery type paintings, to more classic 60's pin-up type art. Heck the Creature from the Black Lagoon even has his own poster!
While this image is how both Carlos and I hoped Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer would've ended - it has to be one of the best vs. Galactus shots I have ever seen. Just check out The Thing!
To see Carlos spill his talents over everyone, from Star Wars to classic film, DC, and Marvel - hold your jaw firmly (to help prevent it dropping) and click through to his online portfolio right here.
See the classic Spider-Man foes are never broken in the right hands! The Wolverine number though, starts a new Making A Mark tradition, of posting an image of Psylocke from each week's artist (where possible), to compare how each handles the X-Men's top telepath!
Now how about this for a cover of Gotham City Sirens?
Sure it's a little camp for the Dark Knight, but he wasn't always gargoyles and grimaces. Plus look how Harley Quinn really suits a more retro style! A whole book illustrated this way would be hot!

He is one amazing artist. I love that last picture! Nobody draws Harley quite like that.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked his work Random - I thought he was pretty swish myself!
ReplyDeleteyeah, I love the Gotham Girls, and he really does them justice.
ReplyDeleteHe definitely has a thing for Harley Craig - but as I talk to more and more comic fans I find myself asking Who Doesn't?
ReplyDeleteI love them all, but Wolverine on the Harley (Bike) has to be my favorite.
