NOW THAT'S A SPLASH PAGE: Jim Lee - Putting The 'Wonder' In Wonder Woman

Splash pages, you gotta' love 'em. A blank canvas where the artist can hit the reader with a large dose of illustrated 'wow'. And yes this is the second 'Jim Lee' based Friday in a row, but this week after re-reading his artwork on Superman with writer Brian Azzarello, I knew I was going to post this image of how awesome Wonder Woman can truly be;

Now that's the Wonder Woman I want to read. One that looks like she could go from super-heroics one minute to fighting in the God of War franchise the next - and having the strength of attitude to do it!

Landing from her plane after talking with Batman, Diana is ready to confront a wayward man of steel as only she can. Adding to the sense of drama, not only does Lee show how a few twists can make the solid gold boob guard and star spangled panties work, he makes her look more than up to the task of stopping Superman!

  1. Wonder Woman as she should be! A true Warrior Goddess.

  2. I've got to say I really like Lee's take on the uniform. He didn't change it or reinvent it. He just tweaked it a bit. And it's amazing, way better than the fan art or David E. Kelley's version from a few months ago. Plus it's just plain hot.

  3. Thanks everyone - yeah it is one of my favourite Wonder Woman images too. Jim Lee makes her heritage work, like you say Craig, just by tweeking the uniform not massively overhauling it.

    While he came under fire for redesigning the outfit for real a wee while back, you have to wonder what his brief was? I mean I know Jim Lee is almost a talent you give an open book to do as they please to, but surely even he gets a client brief.
