BURNIN' LOVE: New Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance Trailer Absolves Past Sins

While the rising of a Dark Knight is already hogging headlines for 2012, the folks at Sony have just rammed a giant fork in the road, ensuring audiences divert towards another dark knight - burning rubber and driving towards February 2012 at breakneck speeds.

What's more, from the looks of this the first trailer to Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, all the sins of the last movie to bare the Rider's flame  have literally been burned way (jelly beans I'm looking at you). In their place, 110% smokin' certified cool. See for yourself, just click the accelerator marked 'play'.

Holy $#!* that is wicked! From the Rider's burnt new look, to amassing carnage at both slow-motion and full-throttle speeds, this trailer proves you can have a joke with Johnny Blaze and not turn the character into one at the same time.

Based on a story by David S. Goyer (who did that other dark knight too), Spirit of Vengeance travels years down the road to explore who is the demon that's partnered with Blaze. Joined by the Highlander himself, Christopher Lambert, Nicolas Cage is the only actor from the original to find new life in this highly-evolved sequel - the first under the Marvel Knights label (I've always had a soft spot for that brand)!

  1. That actually looks really good.I mean Ghost Rider looks really bad-ass here! I skipped the 1st mainly because I can't stand Nicholas Cage. I still feel they could of found someone else, someone younger, but this new movie makes me want to go watch it now, Cage be damned!

  2. well the trailer looks great but their gonna have to come up with a good script too. i remember thinking for the first 30 minutes or so that "this was pretty good" when i saw the first one. but after that the movie really lost my attention. i've caught it on TV a couple of time since then and i still can't remember anything about it after the first 30 minutes. i think that all the producers of the first movie should receive the penance stare for what they did.

  3. Thanks guys - I think it's pretty darn sweet myself! I get and I don't get why movies go a bit kidie-fied sometimes, but that as what Marvel Comics excelled at - they didn't talk down to you, and neither should their films!

Dave as much as I can find holes in the original (don't even have space to list them) I still watch it at least once a month. Just seeing Ghost Rider in live action is enough for this fan!

  4. I loved the trailer until that last scene. Not sure what to make of that. The spirit of vengeance pissing napalm could prove to be either be the most badass thing or the absolute dumbest thing we see on the screen next year. The rest of it looks absolutely amazing. I love how his leather looks half melted.

  5. Ya know what Craig, I actually had the same result. I laughed at it when I first saw the trailer, but then when I showed non-comic fans I could feel myself wanting to click stop just before it.

Still the rest of it including the Rider's new look is absolutly crazy hot, so as long as he doesn't become a Spirit of Jar Jar Binks I'm sure I can forgive them!

  6. I'm actually excited to see this for reasons other than Nic Cage's flesh boiling off of his skull.
