NOW THAT'S A SPLASH PAGE: Not Just A Man... Iron Man

Splash pages, you gotta love 'em. A blank canvas where the artist can hit you with a large dose of illustrated 'wow'. This week, okay I'm still on a Heroes Reborn buzz. But sue me, that Iron Man armour with the rifleback shoulders was the best since the classic 'frisbee on the hips' version. Proving the point, here's Brit artist Ian Churchill.

Convinced? Actually this was a pretty sweet scene in Shellhead's contribution to the first 'Reborn' crossover. He stands in the way of the S.H.E.I.L.D. Helicarrier, barring Fury's access. Then Tony threatens Nick that if he doesn't leave the Avengers to it, he'll remotely turn off the Stark built vessel and plunge it into the waters below.

It never gets followed through on of course, but damn that woulda been great.

  1. Yeah, that was a cool scene, and it really helped show off how bad-ass Tony Stark is in any reality. I know HR gets shit on constantly, but it wasn't a all that bad of an experiment at the time.

Hey, I responded to your question on my comments section. It went real well though, and I'll post a pic I had taken of both of us together later....

  2. Thanks Dale! I agree - I think HR had some pretty good scenes thrown in amongst it, so glad I'm not the only one with that train of thought!

For anyone readin this Dale got to meet comics icon Roy Thomas recently. The highlights of Roy's speech on his career and comics you can find over on Dale's blog here http://dbsuniverse.blogspot.com/2011/10/me-and-roy-down-by-schoolyard.html
