BACK WITH AN AVENGEANCE: Avenging Spider-Man #1 Shows Quesada At His Best

A few days ago, Avenging Spider-Man #1 took my Silk Spectre award for the November comic that would stop traffic based on art alone. Based purely on the work of artist Joe Madureira, feast your eyes on this wraparound cover for the debut issue by Joe Quesada, and tell me how one art award could ever be enough!

And for you black and white purists out there;

Proving his light-bulb headed phase a wee way back was just a side effect of what he had for dinner the night before, this shot proves Joe Q can still give Joe Mad (and everyone else) a damn good run for their webbing. Who needs 3D glasses?

Just so you don't get into the habit of judging a book by it's cover though, here are a few interior pages from the title hitting US stores Wednesday, November 9th drawn my Mr Joe Mad.

  1. The wrap-around cover is good, don't get me wrong, but that second cover with Red Hulk, SpiderWoman, and Wolverine is my favorite. That's the way Spidey's supposed to be drawn.

  2. Completely agree Craig - it's wicked stuff huh? Like I said in the Watchmen post when Joe Maduiera drew Spidey in Uncanny X-Men #346 he nailed Spider-Man pretty much for life for me, so it's great he gets a whole book to run around with the wall crawler!

    Thanks for the comments!
