NOW THAT'S A SPLASH PAGE: The Invisible Woman Saves The Day

Splash pages, you gotta love 'em. A blank canvas where the artist can hit you with a large dose of illustrated 'wow'. This week, a Jack Kirby classic and the splash page that if I ever gave in to my reoccurring idea to run Dan's World's Greatest Fantastic Four Blog would provide the visual for the masthead, if not appear extremely close to it - this;

Taken from Fantastic Four #87, this page captures so much about what I love of this medium and early Marvel. From the crazy type of the heading to the heoric looking Fantastic Four/Five and Stan's star-burst explanation, it's the kind of pop gold that just makes you feel good.

Plus how long has it been since Now That's What I Call A Splash Page featured an actual introductory splash page?!

  1. For someone that JUST survived, they look very apatetic. Are they in shock? :)

  2. It's called the Young and the Restless dramatic moment Aliera. After every dramatic sentence there's a meaningful silent stare and flawless hair shot, daytime TV teaches us this, and it seems The Fantastic Four is no exception.
