NOW THAT'S A SPLASH PAGE: The Echo Of David Mack

Splash pages, you gotta love 'em. A blank canvas where the artist can hit you with a large dose of illustrated 'wow'. This week, it's one of those guys whose art screams his name in glass shattering decibels every time you see his work. He is David Mack, and here is just one astonishing interior page from his astonishing interior page filled run on Daredevil, featuring his creation, Echo;

With David Mack it can be hard to define what is a 'splash page'. Like George Perez is want to do, he can take a key scene then inject it with various related reactions from the same scene or other elements that thematically contribute to the narrative he's trying to convey.

Not only that, even when he does do multi-panels per page, more often then not the visual focus is on how the page appears as a unified artwork rather than the division of it's parts. A fancy way of saying 'Splash page or not - David Mack is freaking untouchable.'
