NOW THAT'S A SPLASH PAGE: Aquaman #7 Delivers The Splashie Of The Month

Splash pages, you gotta love 'em. A blank canvas where the artist can hit you with a large dose of illustrated 'wow'. This week, being the month-ender, we look at the best splashie from the month that was. This time around Ivan Reis obliterates any and all competition with an imposing splash, heralding the return of aqua-nasty Black Manta.

The current Aquaman creative team is purely firing on all cylinders now. Aquaman and Mera are re-established, a supporting cast is cemented and now with the introduction of The Others, franchise-former, writer Geoff Johns is starting to build.

Having the heroes of the book sorted adds weight to Black Manta's return and dressed in his assassinly best, he sure looks more than a match for the former King of the Seven Seas.

Kahina the Seer, it was sad but visually stunning to see you go. R.I.P. For more great splashies, click here.

  2. It sure was IA. Black Manta's always been a nasty dude, but the Aqua crew sure have played but his danger levels to a whole new extreme.

  3. and I luv it Dan. I've always liked Black Manta starting at the Super Friends. It always has been some things that they did so wrong with the character, the origin being the absolute worse but as a villain and character in general Black manta is flawless. Original concept and look, outfitted perfectly for his environment and the exact opposite of his foe.

With the sheer greatness that Geoff is doing with Black Manta right now what's the problem? Over here you have a few viewers but only one replied to this artwork, that's superior because of the character. That's the only thing I can come up with. What do you think and why?

I have three issues that I don't like other than that Black Manta is killin it. Where is the luv. Or where is the one you love to hate?
