RANDOM WORK OF WOW: Des Taylor's Retro Superman

Sometimes you stumble across a portfolio where the artist only has a couple of comic based pieces, other times there can be just one work so brilliant, you'd risk being stoned to death by fellow art lovers for putting something else beside it. These are Random Works of Wow, and illustrating the point this week is artist Des Taylor with his take on a retro Superman serial poster.

Damn, I love this style of design. Sure it's retro and can come off a bit kitsch at times, but it's unbeatable for combining the wonder of science fiction and why we all dug it in the first place!

What do you think?  Des reckons if he gets enough support, he'll flesh this concept out a bit more, so what are you waiting for? Sound off below or to tell the man exactly what you think, click the jump.

  1. I fucking love it Dan! The Max Fleischer 30's version of Superman is my favorite, and Des has perfectly captured that look. Cheers to him!

  2. Hey Dale - that is my favourite form of Superman too! Infact I have every episode saved on my smartphone ready to drool over at any moment. Luckilly Grants flightless Superman in Action Comics has some of those great classical elements too, or I don't know where else I'd turn to find them!
