SALES PITCH: June 2012's Top 6 Comics

Despite Marvel still holding the number one and two selling titles in the game, DC has claimed back the unit share lead by 0.41%. How? Well despite a worldwide web full of protest over the ethics of DC's Before Watchmen series of prequels, the range dominated the charts, taking four out of the Top 10 spots alone. Focus that to just the Top 6 titles and this is the result;

THE TOP 6 SELLING COMICS OF JUNE 2012:
1) AVENGERS vs X-MEN #6 2) AVENGERS vs X-MEN #5 3) BATMAN #10 4) JUSTICE LEAGUE #10 5) BEFORE WATCHMEN: MINUTEMEN #1 6) BEFORE WATCHMEN: COMEDIAN #1

MY THOUGHTS: Seems the other talked about fan subject 'event fatigue' falls on deaf ears too. Four out of six spots fall to event mania - but on the flipside, the comics industry is up 20.47% compared to the first half of 2011 - so who's complaining? That's fantastic!

THE TOP SELLING COMICS OF JUNE'S PAST:
In June 1997, Joe Madureira showed he was the dude to draw Spider-Man in Uncanny X-Men #346. Then in June 2001, writer Grant Morrison's New X-Men tale E Is For Extinction topped the charts, with X-books taking out the top four spots. DC's highest placer back then? Green Arrow at spot six.

Full stats after the jump.

    The comic industry is only up by 10% compared to the first half of 2011, not 20,47%! And since the New 52 flops month after month the second half will be lower than that of 2010 obviously...

  2. Thanks Anon for the comments. Diamond have the first half of 2012 up on the first half of 2011 by 20.47% and that chart is available here http://www.diamondcomics.com/Home/1/1/3/597?articleID=122598

    As for the fate of the 52, I wouldn't write off the entire line as flops either. Batman, Action, Wonder Woman, Animal Man, Green Lantern, Aquaman just to name a few are all strong reads and sellers. With wave three not far away, things could be even closer.

    How is WONDER WOMAN a strong sellet when it is already selling what it was selling 2 years ago now? And GREEN LANTERN is noe doing LESS than the summer of '12! Plus, the Second Wave already does cancellation numbers on some of its books and others like THE RAY, KID ETERNITY are D.O.A.! Face it:the New 52 is turning out to be a fiasco despite all the promo!
