WATCHMEN: Comic Picks For September 2012

Remember remember the month of September... or something like that. Memory has never been my strong suit. Luckily below is a list of the best comics hitting shelves in September 2012 to give the old grey matter a bit of a prod. Feel free to take a gander at said list and tuck a couple under your belt too.

SILK SPECTRE (Stops traffic with looks alone): GHOST#0 How can a ghost hold a pair of colt revolvers? What - stop asking questions and just believe in comic physics? Okay... She's back! Ghost, one of the soul survivors of Dark Horse's former super-hero line, now with more life then ever, thanks to interiors by artist Phil Noto!

THE COMEDIAN (My Rank Outsider): DC UNIVERSE PRESENTS #0 O.MA.C. was a crazy fun title that sadly died before it's time. Well after an appearance in Justice League International, guess who has his own gig again right in these very pages?! Sure, there's a few other folk in here too, like Mr Terrific and the Blackhawks - but hey everything after O.M.A.C. is one big spikey blue mohawk on top.

DR MANHATTAN (The Neon Blue Guy In The Room): HAPPY #1 (of 4) If August had a theme, it was the happiest creators are creator owned creators. Nice word that 'happy'. You know what's another nice word? 'Synchronicity'. Like that theme running onto the release of one of the biggest creators of all launching his next creator owned title for the biggest creator owned home around, Image Comics. That my friends is 'Happy Synchronicity'.

NITE OWL (The Dependable Goodie): TEAM 7 #0 If I was going to hold up comic shipments leaving the US in September, it would probably be for this title. True I'd probably bungle the attempt, get busted and hauled off to Guantanamo Bay, but hey with Amanda Waller, Black Canary and Deathstroke on the same team, I'd have some pretty decent reading material for company, (plus a few extra copies to get me off K.P. duty). Score!

RORSCHACH (The Indie Voice): SWORD OF SORCERY #0 Sure a DC title might not be 'indie', but a sword and sorcery title sure is! Christy Marx the writer behind 'toons Transformers and G.I. Joe takes the main feature lead about a young heiress on the run for her life, while the back-up tale sees Beowulf get post-apocalyptic at the hands of Jesus Saiz!

What about you?  What comics are you looking forward to this September?

  1. Im looking forward to the new Phantom Lady series, the one-off Rose and the Thorn and Amethyst Princess of Gemworld. God, just realized how gay I sound.
Happy OMAC is joining the JLI - I didnt like nor understand why/how that book was cancelled, it was doing so well. Also getting Team 7 for my Steve Trevor and Dinah Lance fix.

  3. Hey Aliera! Welcome back - missed seeing your name round here! Yip in Wildstorm lore there were other Teams - guess we'll have to wait and see if DC holds true to thaf or not!

Karl, that sounds like a pretty decent line up of books to my man. I was going to include Rose and Thorn here but just didnt have the space in the end. If you get it let me know how it turns out!

Otherwise it seems it's Team 7 for the win! Now thats the great kind of casting we could read about more often.

  4. I'm always around :)
Sometimes I'm just so tired I can't joint two letters, and so I can't say anything meanningful about what I'm seeing. But I do love at least come and check what you post, which is always so clever and heartfelt.

  5. I have those days too Aliera - so trust me I know how you feel! Sometimes I don't know where these two typing fingers get their energy or ideas - because the rest of me has run out.

Thanks for the awesome feedback - it is greatly appreciated.
