RANDOM WORK OF WOW: Michael Latimer's The Vision

Sometimes you stumble across a portfolio where the artist only has a couple of comic based pieces, other times there can be just one work so brilliant, you'd risk being stoned to death by fellow art lovers for putting something else beside it. These are Random Works of Wow, and illustrating the point this week is Michael Latimer with his hand painted version of arguably my favourite Avenger, The Vision.

Boy does that bring back a hit of how powerful comics were! It's like a card signalling classic Vision artist John Buscema is ready to step back in the game. Stern, remote and unmoving in his definition of 'justice', this is the Vision from the good old days!

  1. That really is a striking image, Dan. I do miss the Vision. And yes, I know he 'back' ...

  2. I thought for a moment that WAS Buscema's work! Very nice indeed, but for me John Buscema was the only definitive Vision artist; Ive just got a hardback book of his work.
Im glad the original Viz is back too; couldnt get to grips with that odd version that hung out with the Young Avengers.

  3. Thanks for the comments guys! It sure struck me between the eyes when I saw it too. Like you Karl, I just didn't get Vision-lite, and while the real McCoy's return seemed a little more subplot than key plot as I'd hoped, it is just good to have him back.

  4. I don't know what to say....

This is the best one Dan. What you said in the write up is very much on key. I would put this on my wall as part of my personal expression of myself thru decor.

  5. Glad you are a fan too OA - and have also had the idea of hanging it in your home. Imaging that shot staring out from the walls - it would be awesome!
