NOW THAT'S A SPLASH PAGE: U.S. Agent's History Trip With The Lethal Legion

Splash pages, you gotta love 'em. A blank canvas where the artist can hit you with a large dose of illustrated 'wow'. This week, because I miss both him and the Avengers West Coast on a daily basis, comes a splashie of U.S. Agent. The first member of the AWC to understand the truth behind the new Lethal Legion, all in one trippy quasi-splash page by the highly unsung artistry of David Ross.

This was one of the last storylines of the westies in their Avenger titled book (pre-Force Works) and boy was it a doozy. Agent really had come into his own at this point, and despite oddly enough losing both an arm and a leg in the recent Marvel Universe, I hope he'll be revived in the wake of Marvel NOW!

What do you think?  Are you a fan of the Agent?

  1. I AM a fan of the Agent. Can't understandb though why in an very advanced universe, he won't use a prostetic leg. Yes he is a great character all the same, but really, who wouldn't want to move more freely if they could?

  2. I'm a fan of Agent myself, and believe that whole missing limbs thing will either get rebooted, ret-conned, or just simply ignored. That mess can easily be fixed off-panel in a few sentences, so I don't see why that can't happen. It was dumb of Jeff Parker to do that to US Agent anyways, probably just for shock value.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm still hunting down the new Marvel Legends US Agent figure.
Any true fan will be hunting for that as well, despite the figure not being as bulky as he should be. Oh well.

Thanks for putting this up, as I used to be a long-time fan of the AWC myself back in the day.

  3. Thanks guys! Dale I tried hunting the one in the Cap movie line but couldnt get that either. I'd love an Avengers West/Force Works line up.

As for the amputation it just maid no sense at all. Of all characters whod leave themselves exposed you pick a dude who is used to carrying a sheild? Plus what was he doing in that panel to have his body free of harm but not his limbs? Star jumps? Excercise kills folks. You heard it here first.
