SALES PITCH: October 2012's Top 6 Comics

Blending the conclusion of Avengers vs X-Men with the launch of line-wide jumpstarter Marvel NOW! has paid off. Back in the sales lead for October 2012, Marvel bet main rival DC by a unit share margin of 3.63%. Also a month where more fans got in on the best comic going, the collected first issues of Saga finished second on the graphic novel sales list, just behind Superman: Earth One Vol2.

THE TOP SIX COMICS FOR OCTOBER 2012:

1) UNCANNY AVENGERS #1
2) AVENGERS vs X-MEN #12 3) BATMAN #13 4) JUSTICE LEAGUE #13 5) A PLUS X #1 6) GREEN LANTERN #13

MY THOUGHTS: While it's no doubt high-fives all around for Marvel and clan, the true winner is nestled a little further down the list at position #9; Walking Dead #103. A consistent crowd pleaser, backed by the launch of the latest series of it's TV smash adaptation, it is the first 'non-Big Two' book in the Top 10 since it's own 100th issue and before that, since seemingly forever. So while Marvel is merry, it is Image Comics that should be popping a cork on a bottle of something nice.

THE TOP SELLING COMICS OF OCTOBERS PAST:

Avengers / JLA #2 proved another dream come true issue in October 2003. Robin, Tim Drake suffered a great loss in the pages of 2004's Identity Crisis #5, and Jim Lee and Jeph Loeb's killer 'lets feature everybody' arc Hush, launched at #1 in the pages of Batman #608 in 2002.

Full October 2012 stats after the jump.

  2. I know right Dave. Who would've thought Mariah Carey had time to double as the Scarlet Witch? Adi Granov sure is one talented dude!

  3. We need some Wanda in the next Avengers movie if she's going to show up to the party looking like this.
