MILITARISED MANDARIN: Iron Man Foe Swaps Wardrobes In New Movie Poster

The Mandarin may be one of Marvel's oldest antagonists, but the dude has been rockin' two things for a while now; a green and gold outfit worthy of a magical master like he, and ten power rings of mystical origins. Now while many Mandarin costumes and get-up's have been plus cape/blowy thing for years now, he may not be stepping into such, judging by the latest Iron Man 3 poster which gives us a full shot of the formerly technology hating fiend...

  1. I'm really liking this new look. FX showed Iron Man and Iron Man 2 last night. I got hooked into both of them. I'd forgotten how good the original really was, and enjoyed 2 much more the second time around. I picked up on quite a few things I didn't notice in either the first time around, specifically that the terrorist organization that captured Tony was called 10 Rings.

  2. I really like the new robes, but we'll see how they work on the big screen soon enough. He looks dangerous and decadent at the same time.

  3. This guy looks like he shops at the same store Bin Laden did, but it works for the current time period;)

    Can't wait for this!!!!

  5. The Mandarin went out of supervillain favour for a few years, didnt he, possibly because all that wannabe Fu Manchu lookalike business was misconstrued as a tad racist. I should imagine the past ten years with the real-life war on terror wouldve made someone like the Mandarin look a bit offensive to [new] readers also.
Im glad hes back though - after a hefty revamp he makes quite the bad-guy with the capacity for longevity, it was long overdue and gives him back his integrity as a worthy adversary. Of course it helps that Ben Kingsley - sorry, SIR Ben Kingsley [ pretentious poncey 'actor'!!!] is playing him, that will lend him some gravitas, unlike Mickey Rourks absurd role in '2'.
Im still waiting for Madame Masque to appear, shed be great!

  7. Ben Kinsley as the Mandarin will rock! I'm actually very curious now!
I love the costume. I'm digging oriental art lately, and it is quite in the same level of what I like.
