NOW COMES THE COSPLAYER: Gambit Stacks The Deck In London

Comics biggest mystery? How Gambit came off the boil. The wildcard of the X-Men pack, if anyone was ready to snatch the title of mutie #1 from Wolverine's hands in the 90's, it was Remy. He had the past, the powers and the accent to take the spot, yet never did.

Proving an ace in the hand is always a winning suit, London based cosplayer David Medcraft, keeps the kinetic hero energised. Armed with playing cards, the eyes and bo, he is the ultimate Gambit;

 What do you think?  Check out David's Facebook gallery after the jump!

  1. Not only does he look good, that is an impressive shot. Yes folks, shutter speed does matter. Especially if you're going to throw cards directly at the lens.

  2. It sure does Random, maybe Flash was helping him take the picture. Get it? Ahh it's early and i haven't had caffeine yet ... :)

  3. I don't get the X-Men books very often, and Gambit has never really appealed to me; I think perhaps 'cause his power confuses me. So he charges playing cards with some explosive energy? Just cards, not any other object? Odd.

  4. @Dan, Hey, I laughed. And I had plenty of caffeine.
    @karl, Gambit can take the potential energy in any object and turn it into kinetic energy. He just likes using the cards. It's his schtick. Also I think it has something to do with them being smaller and using less charge up time, but I could be remembering that wrong. I always liked Gambit. He wasn't always looking out for number one, but often enough that it created tension within the team, especially with him and Rogue. He was a character with an actual past, written that way from the start, and a consistent power base.
    Plus, he had a cute accent.

  5. Thanks Random - I knew you'd have my back!

    Karl, the lady bet me to it mate, but she's right on. The other things I liked about Gambit were his connections to voodoo land and the fact he was a free thinker at the school of xaviers, he stirred things up, cos nothing bores me more than sheep following blindly.
