NOW THAT'S A SPLASH PAGE: Breyfogle's Batman vs Bat-Rouges

Splash pages, you gotta love 'em. A blank canvas where the artist can hit you with a large dose of illustrated 'wow'. This week, after interviewing the man himself, I thought this week's splashie should go to Norm Breyfogle and his version of Batman. I always loved this one for it's Gene Colan-ish vibe - making two legends in one!

You know you are an old comic fan when seeing the purple pants version of Penguin makes you smile. And The Riddler! I mean, what's not to like?

  2. Thanks Dale - glad I'm not the only one seeing influences in there. Thought it might just be my half-awake eyes!

  3. Everything to like there. All my Batman villains just like I like 'em. I love the flow of the page, too. It grabs you at the top and pulls you down to the corner, where you want to huddle and cover your ears. Brilliant.

  4. Thanks Random! As a fan I always used to watch for certain rouges in certain books. Spidey vs Electro, Thing vs Doom, etc, and with Bats it was always Riddler. While he's a bit darker now and not so much the guy I knew, it's still cool to see a bright green guy covered in question marks still looks right in place with Killer Croc and Scarecrow.
