HE SPEAKS! The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Trailer Wakens The Dragon

In the pre-trailer trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, the dragon of the title reared his imposing head. This time round we get a few words to match, brought to life by Kahn from Star Trek Into Darkness (Benedict Cumberbatch). Well it would be.

What did you think?  The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is in theatres December 13th.

  1. It will certainly be beautiful, I have no doubt of that. And most probably a thrilling movie. But I've given up on them following the book faithfully. So I'll just sit back and enjoy it for what it is. Or try to. No promises against future rantings. These and the Narnia movies are almost harder than comic book adaptations because even before I could read they were read to me, so they're so far embedded into my core any deviation feels sacrilegious. And unnecessary. I'm not saying the movies aren't well made. They're just not the books. The Hobbit moreso than The Lord of the Rings, at least so far. It is beautiful, though. And Ian McKellan is a wonderful Gandalf.

  2. Yeah, the connections to the LOTR are a bit shoe horned at times, though Golem was still my favourite part of the last film. Just hearing him say "Hobbitses" is worth the price of admission.

I have friends going to Hobbitville this weekend for a few photos and a tour - you guys want to go with?

  3. Uh...YES! One thing he didn't mess up on was the sets. Those have always been spot on. And I'd really love to drink some beer and smoke pipe next to a hobbit hole.
