THE COMICS' BEAT: Captain America In The Kinks' 'Catch Me Now I'm Falling'

Mondays. They are worse than Dr Doom and after a heavy one, it can be a little hard to get the drum pumping again for the week ahead. As a former DJ, each Monday I dig into my collection, and chuck up a hit nodding to comics' best.

This week, a song I can never listen to once, regarding Captain America, a guy whose tightly associated with Guns n' Roses lyrics, but actually has other rockers sing about him poignantly too. The Kinks are just such a group, and believe me, as catchy as it is philosophical, you'll be humming the hook all day.

"I remember, when you were down, and you needed a helping hand
I came to feed you, but now that I need you
You won't give me a second glance.
Now I'm calling all citizens from all over the world
This is Captain America calling
I bailed you out when you were down on your knees
So will you catch me now I'm falling!"

  1. Another treasure dug up from one of my favorite bands. :) Proves to me that all the coolest people know their comics.

  2. I think so Random - infact I'm thinking of replacing the typical 'Howsit goin?' when I first meet people with 'So Mar-Vell, Shazam, Monica or Carol?' or 'Black suit, 2099, Scarlet, or Classic?'

It might weed out the best from the rest a bit quicker ;)

  3. Either that or start a street brawl. :)
