THE COMICS' BEAT: Sgt. Rock In XTC's 'Sgt. Rock (Is Going To Help Me)'

Mondays. They are worse than Dr Doom and after a heavy one, it can be a little hard to get the drum pumping again for the week ahead. As a former DJ, each Monday I dig into my collection, and chuck up a hit nodding to comics' best.

This week, we trip back to the early 80's for Sgt. Rock (Is Going To Help Me). A Brit-Pop track, about a UK lad who pictures being like DC's iconic war hero, an 'expert on mademoiselles', in order to 'make a girl his and keep her in line'. Hey, their words not mine.

"Sgt. Rock is going to help me
Make the girl mine
Keep her stood in line
Make the girl mine, wave the victory sign!"

  1. Wow. Really liking this one Dan. Super-catchy! I've heard "Dear God" not too long ago, but this one's way better, and features showcases Sgt. Rock. What's not too love?

Another winner and new free download. Thx mate;)

  2. Glad I could supply another consecutive hit mate, hey just like early Mariah Carey, who would've thought? :)

I really like grabbing the lesser known hero songs out. Sure I have oceans of Superman to wade through, but I think the lesser known are more interesting for a bit.

This one is definitely catchy and will be hummed all day long. Trust me. Next week is more of an about face but good all the same!
