Splash pages, you gotta love 'em. A blank canvas where the artist can hit you with a large dose of illustrated 'wow'. This week, a splashie from the pages of Savage Wolverine, where Jock pulled double duty as artist and writer. Apart from perhaps Green Arrow: Year One, his style has ever been so 'at home' on a project.
If you're going to have lots a needles and wires shoved into you and floated naked in a tube for all to see, you'd want at least a few super-powers as a result wouldn't you? You know, for revenge and all that.
This is the kind of wild and dark tone I always want out of a Wolverine movie - to me the hero doesn't lend himself to bright adventures, but grittier tasks like how Leinil Yu, Frank Miller and Jock style him in.
What do you think?
