MAKING A MARK: Rob Duenas - Adding The Sauce To Earth's Mightiest Heroes

Making A Mark gives an insanely talented artist some IADW brag-space. Today goes to Rob Duenas. Rob's usual artistic style has bordered on a Capcom-ish manga style for a large part of his portfolio, but recently he has opened up an all-new style he dubs 'Saucy' and the results truly stand out from the crowd. Take a look;

Not only have Hawkeye, Black Widow, Captain America and Thor received more militarised 'costumes', the watercolour splash and drip style adds a grunge to each one, showing they are more than ready for the fight!

Thor's cape in particular is a great idea, making it a lot more practical for a God of Thunder to take to the battlefield!

Going by the name 'Sketchcraft', Rob also runs a podcast that teaches how to draw and his processes, for anyone willing to join in. There he's covered many techniques and characters, even the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and you can find more details here.

 What do you think?  To see Rob's full saucy gallery including Flash, Sinestro, Spawn and Batman, click here.

  1. Saucy indeed. Not a bad style actually, and something definitely different from the usual norm. The kid's got talent, no doubt about that.

  2. Thanks Dale! It's definitely different that's for sure. I kind of want to see him handle Clayface, Sandman, Mysterio and Hydro Man with this style. I think there could be some great effects there!

  3. Those are sweet! I love intentionally-sloppy-styles like that.
    Cap looks the best... but Hawkeye w/o his mask always gets zero-stars.
    His Flash, and Venom were bad-ass too! I liked his take on The Infinity Gauntlet as well...

  4. Hey King! Yeah I can't get why Clint's pointy ears don't get more kudos too. Even Wolverine doesn't wear them in the films.... Maybe Bats has the movie patent sown up.
