MAKING A MARK: Nicolas Brondo - The Argentinean Vertigo King

Making A Mark gives an insanely talented artist some IADW brag-space. Today goes to Nicolas Brondo. What this guy's mutant ability is, is the knack to gather the best of influences like Paul Pope, mix them with his own styles and an uncanny eye for composition balance and layout to create, well, pieces like these actually;

Sure two out of three relate to Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol run, but as you can see from the sidebar this week, I'm in a D.P. frame of mind. From the empty space of Animal Man, to capturing the strength yet sadness of Robotman, Cliff Steele, Brondo sure knows how to use a canvas to get the most out of his character or subject.

More than just the characters featured here, Brondo's gallery is like a greatest hits of the Vertigo comic line. Everybody from Transmetroplotitan's Spider, to The Endless, to The invisibles features, of course with Catwoman and his own personal works thrown in for good measure. But hey, when is ever a bad time for Catwoman?

Oh yeah, and he does this massive piece of all his greatest comic addictions;

Recognise them all? More to the point, who would be in your all-stars collage if you were limited to the same amount of faces?
