MAKING A MARK: Ant Lucia's 1940's DC Superheroine Pin-Up's

Making A Mark gives an insanely talented artist some IADW brag-space. Today goes to Ant Lucia, a man whose pin-up style retro shots of DC Comics' greatest heroines and villainesses have been popping up all across the internet, whipping fans into a frenzy for some time. Now however, Quantum Mechanix has decided to put their money where their mouth is and offer them to the world as prints. Now there's a humanitarian effort worth a Nobel prize or two.

While I'm only showcasing four of the 18" x 24"'s here, the full collection is available by clicking this little word > here. See? Told you it was little. Sold for $14.95 each (plus the odd bit of postage no doubt) Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Batgirl, Stargirl, and Mera are available for now, with Wave Two featuring Black Canary, Supergirl, Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Hawkgirl recently following suit.

(Sigh) Rocketeer stylings and a perfect era for a 'Supergirl'. Hard to believe "Risque" pin-up's were almost the porn of their time, and now it's a sophisticated and retro style imitated by millions.

  1. OMG! Loving the art Dan. Good lord, this dude, Ant Lucia is talented! he reminds me of a another guy, a Brit, Des Taylor, who also specializes in retro art. Wow!

  2. Thanks Dale, Ant sure has a great eye for the wimenz! I'd like him to do some 40's era movie posters too for male characters like Swamp Thing, The Question and Etrigan, but these are just awesome as they are.

  3. That they are. But yeah a retro Question, JSA, even John Constantine would be interesting to view under a retro lens.
