THE COMICS' BEAT: Superman in Donovan's 'Sunshine Superman'

Mondays. They are worse than Dr Doom and after a heavy one, it can be a little hard to get the drum pumping again for the week ahead. As a former DJ, each Monday I dig into my collection, and chuck up a hit nodding to comics' best.

This week, it's a classic comic beat that never fails to pick folks up, and consistently earns its place as one at or near the top of the stack. Sunshine Superman reached #1 on the American Billboard charts, #2 in the U.K. and kickstarted the 60's musical genre of 'psychedelia'.

"Superman or Green Lantern ain't got a-nothin' on me
I can make like a turtle and dive for your pearls in the sea"

  1. Definitely a favorite of mine, and not just bc he name drops Green Lantern and Superman.
There's two versions of this song I ejoy listening to; the official album version, and one taped from a live performance. Good pick DJ Dan-y Fresh;)

  2. Thanks Dale! I like this track too, because I like the sounds of craziness in the backdrop. Helps me feel at home ;)
