NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL A SPLASH PAGE: Joe Madureira and Cap in A Raft

Splash pages, you gotta love 'em. A blank canvas where the artist can hit you with a large dose of illustrated 'wow'. This week, I ask, to draw an iconic shot of Captain America, what does the hero have to be doing? Hitting the Red Skull? Throwing his shield? Or how about standing completely still in a raft surrounded by seamen and spray (sorry, I'm six years old at heart and couldn't resist).

If you are Joe Madureira, it seems you can opt for option C and with your drawing prowess, even remove the childish giggle at the end. Everything about this splashie from Inhumans defines Cap in such a simple way, it's almost a one panel campaign to let Joe tackle Cap's own book in future.

Standing while other men crouch, his bulk, size and gaze - all perfect Cap.

What do you think?

  1. That's the money shot.

  2. that looks like a great concept, might have to buy the TPB
