NOW THAT'S A SPLASH PAGE: Where Danger Arises! Call S.O.S.!

Splash pages, you gotta love 'em. A blank canvas where the artist can hit you with a large dose of illustrated 'wow'. This week, being the last featured splashie of the year, it could really only go to the S.O.S. from the Society of Super-Heroes issue of Multiversity.

There is not much I didn't like about this issue. From the 'secret society' feeling of it's heroes to their pulp influences, it was a fanboy dream come true. I've mentioned time and time again how much I miss the Justice Society of America in the 'modern' DCU, and I've posted on why Doc Savage is so important to pop culture.

Having the two franchises chucked in a blender, by writer Grant Morrison, artist Chris Sprouse, and served with Vandal Savage - the villain in my mind more important to the DC Universe than Lex Luthor - and forget it, I'm ending 2014 on a high.
