EVEN LITTLE GUYS CAN HIT IT BIG: The First Ant-Man Trailer

You know what? After Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War, I don't think Marvel's 'on-screen' Avengers line-up will be Cap, Thor, Iron Man, etc - especially if the outcome of the latter sticks true to it's comic roots.

Like in the original Avengers comics, where Captain America saw Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye and Quicksilver take the place of teammates Wasp, Giant Man, Iron Man and Thor after just a few issues, I'm picking the movieverse Avengers will similarly change 'Earth's Mightiest' to Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Quicksilver, Vision, Ant-Man, Ms Marvel and Hawkeye.

One of the key faces of that group got his first major push towards reaching a popularity level that would allow him to fill in for Cap or Thor, with today's debut trailer for Ant-Man. It's got fatherhood, shiny laboratories, shirtless actors and a hero riding the back of a flying ant. How can you not like this stuff?

Marvel's Ant-Man is in theaters July 17.

 What do you think?

  1. Okay. That might not suck. I'll admit, when I heard Paul Rudd, I cringed. But the trailer impressed. I know, that doesn't say much. But I don't hate him on sight like I did Andrew Garfield. And the coloring and lighting looked cool. Plus, if they're planning on keeping this franchise going they'll need to keep upping the membership. Much as I'd like them to, actors don't live forever in a state of youth.

    1. Paul Rudd made you cringe??? -Have you seen They Came Together, or Wet Hot American Summer? Paul Rudd should give you a boner... in your heart.

    2. Haven't seen either. And he hasn't given me a heart boner since Clueless and his cameos on Sisters.

  2. Yeah, I'm a pretty big Hank Pym fan (deff in my top seven Avengers) but I didn't hate watching him take a back seat to Scott Lang in this trailer as much as I thought I would. Plus it's rumoured Hank will have been Ant-Man in the past, so that opens up doors for Giant-Man / Wasp flashbacks, and they are always cool.

  3. Epic, even. They did a good job with flashbacks in Watchmen. I know that was built into the story, but they could utilize it here.

  4. Dude- as soon as it showed him jump on the flying ant- I lost my shit. That's just amazing. It's such a good time to be a comic geek. I mean, seriously. -I just saw Ant Man being Ant Man... in a MOVIE! -FOR PEOPLE!

    1. Meh... I hate prequels. You can throw in thighs and breasts too- still don't care.

    2. Even if they throw in the time stone and warp the whole thing into the present?

    3. Hahaha! Even IF they did something that cool, it would be for what? -An episode or two? The only thing more boring to a life-long comic reader (aka big/fat/geek) than Agent Carter- is Gotham. And did you hear they're making a Krypton series? And then that alleged Aunt May movie Fox is doing??? Will this nonsense never end? I can't wait for the new series called Radd- about a young bald hippie who lives on another planet and likes to give speeches all the time. And every episode ends with him looking up at the stars and longing.

    4. Yeah, I haven't been impressed with Gotham either. The first episode was painful. I couldn't finish the second. I have the rest on my dvr, but I haven't been bored enough to try yet. No, I was thinking a more permanent basis. Let's pull her into the present for realsies. Right when Cap gets serious about someone else. Then watch the heartbreak commence.
      Comic book soap opera style.

  6. Refuse to watch Gotham. That is all.

After seeing the trailer, I think it'll do really, really well. It'll surprise us all how good it;ll actually be, just like Guardians was for me.
