THAT'S NOT MOUNT RUSHMORE! Darth Vader And The Empire Form MASSIVE Japanese Snow Sculpture

For those who daily have to shovel snow from their driveways, seeing more of the icy white stuff might send them rocking into the fetal position, never to recover. However over in Japan military like precision has seen seven hundred 5-tonne truck loads of snow be turned into a towering testament to the dark side of the force. Behold!

Taking a month-ish to complete, and featuring Darth Vader, some Stormtroopers and a couple of TIE Fighters (which sounds like the title of a sitcom waiting to happen but isn't) this Star Wars snow sculpture was created for Japan's Sapporo Snow Festival. As if the size of those people didn't show you how freakin' massive it is, the finished work stands 15 meters (~49-feet) tall, 22.6 meters (~74-feet) across, 20 meters (~66-feet) deep. Holy Hoth!

 What do you think?

  1. that is all sorts of bad ass! a damn shame it won't be around forever.

  2. I thought so too Dave - if I put that much time into art that good, only to watch it melt away, I think I would need counselling. Or at least a cold beer and a steak burger.
