NOW COMES THE COSPLAYER: Vision, Scarlet Witch, Mera, Catwoman and Gambit

If Marvel keeps restricting licensing deals for the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, cosplay might be the only out of comic appearances many of Marvel's best can make. Unless Disney lawyers start rounding up x-cosplayers too, like with giant purple robots or something. Still while scattered pockets of rebellion live, here are five creating cosplay gold right now.

MilenaHime shows tides may change, but DC's Mera will never just be 'Aquaman's wife' again.

Do you tell the kids in your life how Gambit was once one of the coolest characters in the biz? Yeah, me too, still don't know what's happened there. Luckily cosplayer Michael Huffman can help us remember the glory days.

While Tim Burton's take on the character will always be my ultimate look, no in-comic Catwoman outfit has scratched the mark left by the purple cape-free version, made famous by artist Jim Balent. Here BelleChere shows how timeless that look really is.

I think Vision and the Scarlet Witch (ikearstin) have just seen their costumes from Avengers: Age of Ultron. Aware that their classic versions are vastly superior, I'm sure they'll offer them to the massively talented Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen before any sequels are filmed.

 What do you think?

  1. oh that soooooo reminds me of Jim Balent's Catwoman! Dan, you know what i'm talking about right? and how ironic that the classic Vision should turn up on your blog too, maybe you should the ROM Vision team up fan art i haven't seen anything from you in a while mate. besides i want to see some body else do something for a change.

  2. Thanks Dave - yeah Vision is a favourite of mine - if only he'd gone back to the Avengers West after he was rebuilt.

As for doing more art, I actually want to illustrate my next Facebook banner image. It's just sorting out who to draw #firstworldproblems

  3. yeah i've always liked the Vision to he has a very Mr. Spock kinda quality to him. i dunno why Marvel gave him that yellow look in the 90s i never cared much for it his classic 80s look should have been left alone. one of my favorite moments was in Avengers Annual #10 where he blasts The Blob in the face at point blank range with a optic heat blast. just an all around epic freaking issue illustrated by Michael Golden. thank God dikto had nothing to do with that issue http://www.comicscube.com/2012/05/back-issue-ben-avengers-annual-10.html
