Splash pages, you gotta love 'em. A blank canvas where the artist can hit you with a large dose of illustrated 'wow'. This splashie comes from I Hate Fairyland, done by writer artist, Skottie Young.

So much to love in this splashie, but most of all the bandaged and angry moon. Gert blew a hole in the lunar lad with a bazooka in the first issue, and this is a clever way of showing the damage - changing the way I look at crescent moons forever.

The man lying under Gert's axe is the issue's narrator. A tradition already, the person who narrates you on Gert's journey so far, generally meets their demise before the first page's end. And that bug like fellow threatening to shoot Gert in the throat if she doesn't stop singing? He's the star of the show. Gert's advisor and drinking companion, Larrigon Wentsworth III.

I tells ya, everyone needs to try I Hate Fairyland, from Image Comics. It really does make sweet sour in all the best ways.
