Splash pages, you gotta love 'em. A blank canvas where the artist can hit you with a large dose of illustrated 'wow'.
This splashie comes from one of the iconic comic artists I was surprised was missing from the initial DC Rebirth books; Tom Grummett.
Section Zero, Superman or even like here with Firestorm in The Power Company, he is a workhorse whose work never falters.

Tom knows how to do brilliant clean, fluid artwork without letting his art get in the way of the story. This would make him perfect for a JSA ongoing or maybe even Ronnie himself - I mean who wouldn't want to see more of Firestorm looking like this?

Damn fine choice there Dan. Shit man, Tom Grummett's always been an underrated solid worker. Never too flashy, and all substance. In a lot of cases his artwork is what guaranteed I bought a comic he was working on. Fuck yeah! Damn shame that there's no word on Firestorm or the Atom despite how popular they are on Legends of Tomorrow, but we'll see.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dale! His art also opened my wallet too. Wish my art did that to people.... would make life easier!
ReplyDeleteHa ha I bet
ReplyDeleteThat costume should not work on ANY level- yet... this version of Firestorm has always been the most bad-ass looking one!
ReplyDeleteThe puffy sleeves would be annoying to draw right I think, but this has to be one of my definitive Firestorm shots. Just look at that face!
