SWEET AS: Marvel Comics' Top 5 November 2018 Solicitations

When we Kiwis find something we like, we say it's 'Sweet as'. When I look at all of Marvel Comics November 2018 solicitations, these five picks make the 'Sweet As' grade:
Monica knows, one day Giant-Man is really going to get tired of crouching for group shots.

ONE) Marvel really needs a win with this. The X-Men need to be the X-Men again, and now that the House of Mouse essentially owns the movie rights, this revamp might actually deliver. Heck, they have the name right at least. Now a 10-part weekly adventure might be a different way to start a new UNCANNY X-MEN ongoing (and hard on the wallet), but if this X-Men Disassembled'' storyline restores Rogue, Archangel and co to glory, who are we to argue? 72 pages.

This must be a revamp, Jubilee's a firework again!
2) 'Classic Marvel' is as much defined by its villains as it is by his heroes, and few iconic foes are as underrated (or as awesome) as The Absorbing Man. In the IMMORTAL HULK #9, Carl Creel is just trying to live, and build a new life... but the Green Goliath living doesn't mix with that idea, and one of these things is going to have to die for the other to breathe...

3) While I roll my eyes at the thought of Ghost Rider in the ranks of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, I love the world-building that is going on in the pages of the AVENGERS. Namor has assembled the Defenders of the Deep, there's a new Russian Super-Soldiers, not to mention the Agents of Wakanda, the Government's gunning for them, and the Avengers of 1,000,000 BC - plus a new member!

4) I remember in an old issue of Wizard, Mark Waid saying that when he gets writing block, he thinks of two characters who rarely share the same stage and analysing what would make the pair tick - and that that's where a lot of the great stories come from. Writer Gail Simone must be of similar thought, as in November, DOMINO comes face-to-face (or neck-to-fang) with Morbius The Living Vampire!

5) Who are the Fantastix? If this was a few years ago, I'd say it's the FF version of that Avengers team that was half X-Men a while back. However in FANTASTIC FOUR #4, it doesn't seem like that's the case. The imposters have moved into the Baxter Building, and creating a stir... my money is on H.E.R.B.I.E. being responsible - what about you?

  1. Hmm, Zombie Hulk vs. The Absorbing Man. And didn't he just break out of some super galactic jail with Black Bolt not that long ago? Sounds like an interesting twist on their usual battles.

X-Men Disassembled.....well, at least Bendis isn't around to screw things up, so we'll see how this guys. Those plot points in Avengers sounds interesting though.

Just saw you updated, otherwise I'd have replied earlier.
